Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use Maestro, a platform that connects independent Italian teachers with students for live online lessons and gives both sides practice tools. By creating an account you accept them.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who we are and what we do

Maestro is operated by the person named in the details below (a registered company will take over before payments start). We provide the software: the lesson room, the booking calendar, the notebook and the practice library. Teachers are independent professionals who set their own availability and teach the lessons themselves.

2. Accounts

Sign-up is by invitation. You must be at least 16, give accurate details and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Booking and scheduling

Lessons are booked in the times your teacher has opened in their calendar. A booking is confirmed when it appears under "Your lessons" and the matching credit or package lesson has been reserved.

Lessons start at the booked time in the Maestro lesson room. If you are more than 15 minutes late without notice, the lesson may count as attended. Times are shown in your device's time zone.

4. Cancellation and rescheduling

You can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 12 hours before the lesson starts; the credit returns to your balance.

Cancellations or no-shows less than 12 hours before the start forfeit the lesson credit. A teacher may agree to reschedule a late request at their discretion.

If a teacher cancels or does not attend, you get the credit back in full.

Problems with a lesson (technical failure, teacher absence) can be reported from 12 hours before until 72 hours after the start; we review every report.

5. Packages and credits

Lesson packages expire 6 months after the purchase date. Unused lessons in an expired package are not refunded unless the law requires it.

Credits and packages are personal, cannot be transferred and have no cash value.

6. Right of withdrawal (ångerrätt)

Under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (Lag (2005:59) om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler), consumers normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract.

Under Chapter 2, Section 11, first paragraph, point 12 of that Act (2 kap. 11 § första stycket 12 p.), the right of withdrawal does not apply to services tied to a specific date or period. By booking a lesson at a set time you expressly request the service for that time and accept that the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to that booking. Unbooked package lessons remain covered for 14 days from purchase.

7. AI practice tools

Matteo, Nora and the other AI tutors are automated conversational partners. Their speech is computer-generated and they are not real people. They are educational practice partners, not teachers.

Your messages to the AI tools are sent only to produce a reply. We do not use them to train AI models, and our providers process them under terms that exclude training on your content.

AI replies, corrections, word lookups and scores are educational help. They can be wrong or incomplete and are not a certified assessment of your level. Don't rely on them for legal, medical or other professional matters.

Don't use the AI tools to produce unlawful, abusive or harmful content.

8. Acceptable use

Treat teachers and students with respect. Don't record lessons without the other person's consent, share lesson-room access, or try to get around bookings to take payment off the platform.

We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

9. Content

Teachers keep the rights to materials they upload and give Maestro permission to show them to their students. Maestro's texts, audio and software remain ours.

10. Liability

We work to keep Maestro available but cannot promise it is free of interruptions. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Swedish or EU law.

11. Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled by Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as the court of first instance. If you are a consumer, you can also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN), and you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.

Who runs Maestro

Maestro is currently in private testing, operated by Giacomo Manca. No payments are taken at this stage.
